Previously known as KLab Venture Partners and KVP, ANOBAKA was established in 2015 as a wholly owned subsidiary of KLab Inc., a Tokyo-based online mobile gaming company. KLab launched its venture capital business in 2011 through a joint venture co-founded with SBI Holdings, called Klab Venture. Klab Venture invested out of its maiden fund, SBI-KLab Startup Fund I, co-managed with SBI Investment.ANOBAKA became independent through a management buyout (MBO) announced in November 2020, where its management, Hirokazu Nagano, acquired 70% of shares from KLab.
