He began his career at Sumitomo Bank in 1986, where he was involved in business restructuring and financial support for large corporations in distress, and later worked on resolving the non-performing loan crisis. Subsequently, he held senior executive roles at Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, overseeing compliance, corporate governance, risk management, and crisis management on a global and group-wide basis. In March 2023, he resigned from his executive positions to establish Mountain Capital.
